Now that spring's winding down and the thermometer's rising, my mind's on all things summer vacation! While I don't get a leisurely months-long summer off anymore, I try to make the most of the hottest days of the year. Weekend trips to the beach, long road trips and jaunts abroad are all on my summer to-do list. While the destinations may change, what I pack in my bag for these summer adventures almost always remains the same.

Along with the perfect bikini, a straw tote and plenty of sunscreen,  there are a few things I can't leave home without. Below are the items I always take with me on a summer getaway.

L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream
With hours spent in the sun, strong pool chemicals and the salty ocean water, my skin gets so dry in the summer- especially my hands. Enter L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream, the ultimate dry skin lifesaver. I swear by this stuff, and I'm not alone. One bottle of the Shea Butter Hand Cream is sold every three seconds around the globe! Not only does this Shea Butter Cream feel amazing on your skin and smell great, it's also certified organic and a socially responsible product. All of L'Occitane's Shea Butter is Certified Fair Trade from Burkina Faso, where the company has partnerships with local women's cooperatives that source the product. So not only does the cream work wonders for summer heat dehydrated skin, its production supports women in Burkina Faso. Click here for more details and to buy!

Colorful Clutch
A cute little clutch is the perfect option for storing valuables within your beach bag. Large totes tend to turn into a black hole and separating my wallet, phone and keys into a pouch saves the frustration of digging through a million items. I also love having a second bag with me. When the sun goes down and it's time for happy hour, ditch the bulky tote and you have an evening appropriate clutch all ready to go.

Turkish Towel
A must for any summer jaunt is a turkish towel. It's such a versatile item and can be used in a million situations- as a picnic blanket, as a towel after swimming, as a scarf on chilly nights... the possibilities are endless. Turkish towels pack easily too and are lightweight enough to carry around  throughout the day. The towels come in many colors, so there's a shade for everyone!
